SWIM Meets with Egyptian Delegation of Entrepreneurship- Empowering Women in the Workplace

The U.S. State Department approached SWIM and asked us to host a special visit from World Boston. On August 29th, representatives from SWIM met with an Egyptian delegation of nine female entrepreneurs and businesswomen under a program titled “Women in Management.” The purpose of the visit was to establish relationships and share best practices and insights for enabling the success of women in the workplace. We had an awesome discussion, focused primarily on shared challenges and cultural differences faced by female entrepreneurs and women in business in the U.S. and Egypt.

It was a great opportunity to connect with women outside our community, and we were honored that they chose to share their incredible stories and experiences with us. If you would like to hear more about the visit or the contacts we made in Egypt, please reach out to swimoffcers@mit.edu.

One of our favorite quotes from the event (spoken by an Egyptian entrepreneur): “Failure to an entrepreneur is success. It means you’ve learned.” We are excited by how well this resonates with the theme of our upcoming SWIM conference “Fail Better: Redefining failure as a stepping stone to success.”
