Breaking the Mold: Project Implicit Workshop

What are your implicit associations about gender, race, sexual orientation and more? Does it bias your decision making? From the research group behind the Implicit Association Test and the critically acclaimed book Blindspot, Dr. Carlee Hawkins will be leading a 2-hour workshop on Implicit Bias on Wednesday October 29 at 6pm. She will help us to understand our implicit biases and discuss ways to overcome their influence on our behavior. Please join us for this important and impactful workshop! Dinner will be served at 5:30pm; the workshop will run from 6-8pm.

SWIM Halloween volunteer event at Cradles-to-Crayons

Looking for a fun way to make a difference this Halloween? Join a volunteer event at Cradles to Crayons (C2C) on Friday October 31, 1-3pm! C2C provides basic goods to children ages 0 – 12 from disadvantaged families. We will be going on-site to inspect, sort, and package donations into customized “KidPacks.” This is an awesome way to get to know your classmates while giving back and having fun! SWIM has patterned with The Yarn the first ever themed-Yarn! The theme is “Breaking the Mold: Stories that Break Stereotypes”. This is meant to be a very broad theme and all interpretations of stories that break any type of stereotype are welcome (e.g. gender, nationality, school, accent, LGBT, hair color, and any other stereotype you can think of!).
