Workshops
SWIM organizes a year-long series of skill-development workshops to meet the personal and professional development needs of SWIM women.
The club plans 8 workshops per year with one workshop per month, September-December and February-May. Workshops are run by professionals.
Workshops offered through SWIM give MIT Sloan women a hands‐on forum to learn and practice crucial business skills in a networking setting. SWIM workshops are planned to strategically address voids that Sloan women may encounter when entering the workforce both personally and professionally after leaving MIT. The club seeks to bring in industry, faculty, and alumnae experts in these areas to lead the workshops, ultimately securing cutting edge skills training for Sloan women to maximize their development while at MIT.
Workshop topics have included:
- Personal finance
- Negotiating in the workplace
- Managing e-communications with co-workers and managers
- Career planning: how to manage climbing the corporate ladder while raising children
- Networking
- Navigating networking sites
